does anyone know what year ecu will fit in my 91 , a local junkyard told me 90-97 will fit. thanks
Fitting and working correctly are 2 different things. I believe, only 93 and older will work correctly with your 91.
You may also wish to see if it was/is a California car. The ECUs are different for them than the 49 state cars (at least for 1993). The ECU from the 1990-1992 have a different number. Also add into the mix that there are different ECUs for an automatic and manual shift cars.
I am almost positive (99.9%) that the 1.8l cars ECU is different than the 1.6l cars.
The Local junkyard folk are not the brightest bunch on this topic.
from 89 to 93 the cars came with a 1.6L ODB1
from 94 to 95 they has a 1.8L and OBD1
From 95.5 or 96 to 97 OBD2
after that who cares...
And like 1 poster said the CA ECU is differant still, but i am sure that is minor, but not sure really...

Best yet - I believe that there is a parts diagram in the garage section. You can look at the part numbers and compare them. I know that I have a '91 ECU that does not work in my '93, but does in the 91. Both ar eCA cars and both are 5 speeds. |
