strange bogging

my car idels fine and reves normal untill about 3-4k, then it boggs down, also light to medium throtle is all I can drive with. my only code is for the rear o2 senser witch has been on a few years saying it is below thresh hold.
has any one else had this problem? its kinda making me mad

I seem to remember bad boost sensor can cause this problem.  Has the car recently sat for a few weeks?

So your rear 02 sensor has been acting up for a few years? Why haven't you gotten it fixed?
The answer seems pretty obvious to me.

If the O2 sensor is out, your emissions could be out of whack and in the process of killing your cat. Check it out.

That rear O2 sensor does nothing but monitor the CAT. The car does not run off of it, so it cannot affect how the car drives.

i had an o2 code on my protoge5, because the air intake quot;snorklequot; had a hole in it, confusing the computer and giving the sluggishness you talk about... check for leaks.... the sensor was fine after installing the new snorkle...

Sounds like weak fuel delivery to me.  I'd replace the fuel filter first and see if the problem goes away.  2nd would be to clean the mass air flow sensor; if the sensor is dirty then it'll tell the engine it's getting less air than it actually is and will drive the engine lean, sometimes to the point of throwing a code.
The 2nd O2 sensor has zero to do with engine performance IF the cat is working OK.  If the cat has become plugged or slagged due to excessive fuel that'll cause these same symptoms.  Much less common than the fuel filter, though.
HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

I have replaced the rear sensor before and got a new mid pipe but the code is stil there. the o2 code is not going to effect the driveablity so i never worrie about the rear. i have never replace the fuel filter and looking at it it says mazda so Im sure 90k have done its damage.  so Ill look at that and check for vacum leaks too. thanks for your replays

learn som'n new e'ry day!
thanks!

Could be a clogged fuel filter, weak fuel pump, or maybe your cat is clogged and that is why the O2 sensor is throwing CEL.

ok, I replaced the fuel filter and the check engine light went off and I am showing a greem emissions status for the first time in a year. this makes me happy. but the is still a lot of hesitation and I dont know why. it started last week and is still doing it. any other things I need to cheeck guys?

Stephanie is correct, I unpluged the rear 02 sensor and the car just ride the same, in fact, I am using the power source (black and white wire) from the rear 02 sensor as my source for an AEM 02 widebandsensor. Car still runs the same, just a faulty code.

could be a lot of things. Bad PCV valve gives you those symptons, leaky injectors and bad valve cover gasket give those issues too

having this same exact problem. Gonna try and clean the MAF. and change the fuel filter.
