Radio security lockup

Hello,
I am a french miata owner of a superb 2003 NB FL 1.8 blackpassion limited edition.
My message her is to request some help about a little problem with my audo system:
I guess I'm not the only one having this problem, so thank you in advance for your answers!
One morning, I was about to go for a tour with my little Miata but: no more baterry power.
So I unmounted, I recharged, and I mounted back the baterry.... Everything but the car who wants a code !!!!!
I looked everywhere: no code and no posibility to contact with the previous owner ...
A month later, in my Mazda garage I had this answer: Not possible, you must unmount the audio system and send it  for repairing... all for a silly price!!
My questions are:
- Is there a way to reset the audio system?
- Are Mazda Garages entitled to do so?
I suppose so, because if the misadventures of the baterry happens in the garage, the garage must give the vehicle back to the customer working as it was on arrival, right?
- If someone has already lived this wonderful experience, I will be glad to know how to solve this problem!!

Welcome to the Forum.
I own a 2003 NB, there is no Security code for the audio system, at least not for the North American cars.
Hope there will be same European member to help you.

this worked for my 2003 1.6 mx5. I am only posting this as the dealership wanted to charge me £150 to do this -
pres in one at a time - 6, AM, AutoM, Seek (up)
you should now see -- -- -- --
enter 1414
then press and hold AutoM and 6.

if it doesnt work try these codes instead - 4989, 5011, 0532.

I've just tried the solution of ericball, but it doesn't work:
I pressed in one at a time 6, AM, AutoM,Seek(up): no changes
the word quot;CODEquot; still flashes.
When I read the car manual, it is said that my audio system is an European Type B (with integratred 6CD charger), So I think that I need help for this specific Audio system.
The dealership wants to charge me 180$ to unlock the audio system.
PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!! and thanks in advance !!!!!!!!
