Snow tires on daisies: 185/60/14 vs 175/65/14

Which one is better? The 175s are slightly cheaper, and from what I know thinner tire is better in the snow. But I wonder if 175 will be too narrow?

They will fit fine on either width(5.5quot; or 6quot;) of stock 14quot; Miata wheels.

I have the 175's for this year......studded Winterforce.....$35.00 a piece

I just screwed up (hesitated) on a two sets of used winter tiers, Blizzaks with wheels and Firestones too... for around $120.

When I got my winter tires, I had to get the 175s because the 180s were sold out. Tires look a little thinner than my son's, but the wheels (alloys) sure look better than my steelies! From what I read they might work better, but I suspect the effect is marginal.

to get an idea if wider is better....look at rally cars snow tires.....tall and skinny.....which lets the tire cut into the crap for better grip
