Doing a quick Google search I haven't found it.
I wasn't able to get a picture of it with my phone while driving this morning, but it was definately a C5 Vette. The exhaust gave it away. The convertible top was also tell tale C5.
Everything about it looked completely different. Somewhat of a retro-classic car look. Anybody have any idea what I'm talking about?
Was it this?
There were a few manufacturers who produced 1953/2003 Commemorative Edition rebodies of the C5 Vette - here's a few, found by googling for '53 commemorative Corvette kit':

Bingo. Thanks guys.
For some reason it just looks much cleaner, yet foreign in person than in the pictures.
Eeek. Corvette = awesome. Corvette with body kit = fail. I've never seen any 'vette kit, nor wing, nor other aesthetic addon, that didn't look entirely awful.
To my surprise I actually like it. Looks much better with no roof.

I'll agree that most kits look awful, but not all. There are some tasteful ones, as well as some really nice hoods and whatnot out there. I certainly agree that wings don't belong on Vettes, though, unless it's a C6-R or something. I have yet to see a decent looking wing on a Vette, and that includes the ZR1 spoiler.
While not a body kit per se, many people swap the Z06 panels onto their standard C6 cars to get the widebody look. Some just do it to the rear panels, while others do the whole conversion. Now, of course, they came out with the Grand Sport, which is essentially just that, though the front quarters have quot;gillsquot; and are not carbon fiber, like the Z06. I'm still kind of on the fence about the gills, but I do wish they had a factory option for the widebody when I got my 08. |
