Anybody ever put their Miata's in a hot rod show?

Our town is having their annual celebration.  and I'm going to put my Miata in the Rod and custom show.  Just wondered if anyone else has ever done that.  Or do you just keep to Miata specific and tuner shows.
I have a 69 Nova I'm also going to put in the show, but Im really proud of the work I did on the Miata.  Plus its different, kids will like it, hot moms will like it, and maybe it will spark up something with the younger crowd to show their cars in the future.
Just wanted to hear some of your guys thoughts.

I'm sure that your car is great, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it will not play well with the mullet and Camaro crowd.

i never really entered it, but my gf drove the miata behind my 32' ford bucket.  she ended up parking behind the ford as our section was large... The miata got just as many compliments as the rust bucket... lol

Should be fine if it is a general show.

I'm gonna do it anyway.  Its a free show.  I figured its kinda like riding a metric bike to Sturgis

I have put mine in the local show....lots of interest, as my car was the only Miata, and at the time, one of the few NCs in town.
Car guys are car guys. Try to park with some vintage British cars, you'll fit right in!

I did once as some friends request.  I'd never been to an official show (with trophies and all).  I ended up with quot;First Place - Asianquot;.  LOL A high point in my life
Naw, it was fun!
Matt

Each show should have a list of what years, class, make, models, etc.....  Some are specific, others are not.  There is a local weekly cruise and every time I go I am temped to ask what their categories are....  It is full of classic American made cars for the most part.

Thats pretty much all we have around here too.  Old guys and old american cars.

Here we go, all washed and ready

Bet if you took one of these you'd gain wide acceptance. Particularly with a 'true' hot rodder, ie the kings of mix and match.
Old goats (like me) who only want to see numbers correct cars are not hot rodders.
I like/appreciate numbers correct cars, but I enjoy true hot rods and street rods as well.

I've taken my Miata to the Irvine Cars amp; Coffee show, which is mostly for exotics, classics, hot rods, and other rare cars.  I've been welcomed multiple times and usually end up in quot;highlights of the showquot; pictures that are posted online...but that's probably because of my Miata's extensive modifications.

Not the Miata, but I've taken my CRX to a couple of hot rod shows that were mainly old muscle cars.  Like MX-5.0, I got a trophy once, quot;First Place, Sport Compact Divisionquot;.  That trophy was much bigger than anything I've ever won actually racing it.

I drove over to a local car show in mine.  As I was leaving some guy said, quot;Nice Barbie car.quot;  Sheesh.

I made the mistake of getting caught in Talledaga race traffic in the Miata once as I was coming home from Atlanta.  That was an hour of drunk redneck guys making quot;sissy carquot; comments and drunk redneck girls telling me how cute it was.

Haha

There does seem to be a distinct quot;line in the sandquot; drawn when it comes to car shows or even local cruise in's, both of which I do fairly regular.  My Cobra is interesting in that it fits well in either category.  But it's VERY rare to see imports (dare I say quot;ricersquot;?) at an event not specifically tailored to them.
Local cruise in's are generally where your going to find old muscle cars, quot;mulletquot; cars, '32 Deuce Coupes and old farts (like myself) hanging out.  Nothing wrong with that, we all like to hang with people more aligned to our personal lifestyle.
I've had a ball showing the Cobra at some import shows though!  I always feel just a tad out of place but the blasting music, scantily clad women folk and bikini contests make it all worth while!    These ricers types sure know how to throw a good party.  I DO have to laugh at some of the bizzaroo things they come up with though.  What's up with the spinning hub caps?  Did you see the wing on that thing, what the heck?   What we need here is more motor, less audio/video, etc. etc.
Had a great time at this import show with my Cobra!

I've only ever had my car in one real car show, and the organizer specifically asked the SCCA to bring out some quot;competition cars.quot;  I was between a C6 vette and a QRE Shadow.  It was fun, though.  None of our road-racing compatriots showed up, only autocrossers.

I have a few trophies on the mantle for my '99.
Clipper City Corvette Club Ma, 2005 Foreign Class, 2nd place
Hildene Vt Antique/car show 2005, Miata class 2nd place
Hildene Vt Antique/car show 2006, Miata class 1st place
Sunapee NH car show 2006,  Miata class 3rd place

I had my NC at the Hotrod Supernationals this summer. It sat beside our 31 Chevy, not sure which one got the most looks.  The PRHT really caught the attention of a lot of people.

Aaaargh, that Nova is gorgeous!
I had a plain black SS 350, that stripe sets off some memory, a Yenko?

I entered my moderately modded NB in a show last fall that included all types of cars. I got a nice trophy for 8th best overall in show.

Yep painted on Yenko stripe.  It needed something to set it off.  Its just a 350 SS, 3 speed auto.  It was really rough when I bought it.  Got it for 200 bucks.  The miata got a lot of looks and a lot of attention.  It was the only Japanese car there.  The only other foreign car was an older Porsche 911.  I dropped it off and went to the food fair.  But as I was driving it around last night I heard of lot of people saying.  quot;Hey theres that car that was in the show!!!quot;

I plan on bringing my two tone to shows and parking it next to the Chevelle. It should do ok as it has the two tone job and a Deuce rollbar. We will see when I finish it.
