What if i just cut the Air Bag light??

My 97 is blinking Air Bag 6 times. I know this is probably the clock spring or the capacitor issues i have been reading about on here. I do not wish to pull the wheel or the airbag, so, what if i just cut that Airbag light or pull the bulb?? anyone done this?

The air bag system has a back up warning  . Cut the light and you will be hearing beeps.......

Unplug the airbag computer and the beeps stop.

can i not just pull the bulb out??

Yes, but then the system beeps to inform you that the light isn't working.

Black tape on the dashboard face has worked well for me.

Not sure if it is in the garage section, but you can wire a resistor in between the wires for the light that will keep the buzzer from going off.  IIRC it is a 5 or 6 ohm resistor (I don't really remember which).  A search may find the answer.
I bought my Miata in February with 2 blown airbags.  First thing I did was pull the bulb.  The warning buzzer made me put the bulb back in within a few minutes.  I wrapped the bulb with electrical tape but it is still visible at night.
Hey Lance....... where might one find the airbag computer on a '95?
I would REALLY like to get rid of the flashing light.
TIA,
Greg

I think Lance told me awhile back that the air bag computer for '95 is burried deep down in the center of the dash, and somewhere next to the HVAC system.

Well yeah, if you want do things the hard way. You'd have to disassemble the IP, and as others have said then it will just beep. If you think the light is annoying...the beep is terrible.
I'm not sure how much different it is on a 97, but for my 92 I removed the IP and the SRS module was very easy to get at. I just unplugged it. No more light, beep, or anything else. Just a busted face if I get in a wreck.

Or, just for the sake of it, buy a new computer and keep the airbag system working. They are $130. Just a crazy thought I had.
