VTEC Toggle Switch Set-Up?

I have a few questions.  Well number one, I have heard from a few people that using a toggle switch to run your VTEC is bad, but I have also heard that it will not hurt anything, what is the TRUE answer?
Another question I have is where would you mount your toggle switch?  I have heard this is kind of a preference thing but I need some input.
And the third, final, and probably most major question I need to ask is, I have heard that like if you but and RPM activated switch, you can obviously set the RPM but it the VTEC will kick on once you have reached this RPM and it will turn off when you've reached this RPM, So like does that mean that when i hit say 4,800, it will turn on but then when I upshift it will turn off?  Because you know that when you downshift and let the clutch out, your RPM's go down, but would they go below 4,800 or whatever your RPM activated switch is set at?  I am probably gonna lose some sleep over this for nothing...
some help please thanks

hate to tell you, but if you had a stock ECU to control your VTEC, its gonna shut off when you shift anyway, unless you keep your foot on the gas when you shift.
what setup do you have on your car that would require you to manually turn VTEC on and off?
A toggle switch, I havent done it yet but i am thinkin about it, but do you know if this would hurt your car cause i have heard several things
...why would you waste time mounting a toggle switch?? if you're gonna half ass..just half ass it with a rpm activated switch...  a toggle switch is quite possibly the stupidest method.... you're looking at your tach..which probably isnt terribly accurate...by the time that crappy switch makes the connection... the timing is way off....and do you really want to be shifting and flipping a switch twice a gear? come on... you've got no hands left for the wheel
Why is a rpm activated switch half assing it?

well..I didnt necessarily mean that... I meant, if you're not gonna use the proper ecu.... you may as well do the best thing you can do...especially b/c its fairly cheap...
Well i don't really want to change the ecu out.  Or do i have too?  I was thinkin actually about getting a summit rpm activated switch.  BUT from what i hear though, you dont have to use the vtec if you dont wanna.  and bt the way u can keep it on when u change gears i think
..not sure if I understand your last post...but there is absolutely no advantage to leaving 'vtec on', as you put it... the performance is going to be horrible then down low...
and no..you dont really have to change your ecu out.. you may have a lean condition when vtec engages...but...not tha tbig a deal really..
who the hell wants vtec anyways?? i doubt it does THAT much of a difference, thats why i'm just getting a DOHC ZC when i decide 2 get a motor. wont have to worry about all this vtec stuff, its much easier without it IMO, less hassle and less 2 go wrong
if you could do anything besides use the correct ecu the best would be a vtec controller you could then change fuel as needed
but foreal i would just get the correct ecu setup and then a vtec controller if you want and get it DYNO TUNED!! it'll be worth the money
Damn man, I'm gonna go to Autozone and buy a switch for $3.99. I'm going to keep my DX Ecu but every time I flip the switch I'm going to yell... BAAAAAHHHHHH! Out my car window. Yeah Yo DX VTEC POWER!
But seriously don't use the toggle switch method man!

Vtec aint all its said to be, IMO.  People talk about Vtec amp; think their gonna have neck snapping power.  It's just one more thing to have problems with.
get a momentary cotact switch and put it under the gas pedal so you hit vtec when you floor it... LOL

Vtec is a great way to utilize a bigger cam lobe.
