Encouragement for the NA

Just wanted to give some encouragement to NA owners and prospective owners. We have probably one of the most enjoyable cars to either use as a daily driver, autocross, track car, and even a strip car when we go with a big engine. We personalize them and they become a part of us and our personality. I use mine as a daily driver and it has taken me four years to finally get what I think is me. Our Miata is getting older and needs TLC but when you love something its easy.

Sharp looking car. I'm spending more on my NA than I originally planned but it is a blast to drive.

I know exactly what you mean!
Good luck

Agreed.  I wanted a used Miata to drive-into-the-ground.  With the replacement top skin, Polybush, Konis, and FCM mount kit, I've spent more on her than she cost me, but I can't help myself.  It's the most fun thing I've ever driven.

Since I bought my '94 in '04, I've spent $5460, this includes maintenance and upgrades, that's more than I paid for the car, $4700. Is owning a miata a passion or obsession?

poormxdad, we must be on the same wave length, you and I were composing our posts at the same time, what's your next mod so I can start saving?

Do it

just me,
Honestly, I think I'm going to replace the front sway bar.  I'm running a used 22mm bar from a '99 that I modified by bending the ends in a vise.  The setup works, but the bends are non-optimum.  I appear to have broken an endlink bolt (I know it was torqued down and didn't just work loose) and I'm attributing that to the less than perfect bends.  I don't own the vise, and it's at a place where I'm not supposed to be one of the benefactors of its existence...
I'm currently doing this

and it's working out well.  Ride height is good although I'd like it just a little lower, comfort is much better than stock, and handling is excellent.  I was thinking of going to the bigger front bar rather than moving up to Koni adjustable sleeves and even heavier springs.  I drive on some of the worst roads ever, everyday.
The cold-side supercharger is going to have to wait.  The wife wants hardwood floors...

The mods I have planned for this car are easily going to outstrip the 1800 dollar purchase price.  I just auto-xed it today in bone stock form and as usual had a blast.  It's not going anywhere anytime soon.

agreed...
I've got plans for add-ons totaling more the the purchase price also.
It's hard to help myself but i think I can justify it if she stays around for awhile....and I've got no plans to sell anytime soon...
LONG LIVE THE NA!!!

So, the late model 22 mm front bars don't fit an NA without some type of modification?

LOL...  Your story sounds just like mine.  I paid $4000 for my car and spent over $6000 on aftermarket part.  I haven't even touched the engine yet.
