springs and shocks vs coilovers?

If given the chance, when pricing is least of your worries, when "acceptable" comfort (meaning your brain doesn't feel like it's in a blender) and looks is what your looking for, would you change your springs and shocks OR would you go for coilover?  I'm planning to start on my 325ci, and i want to start on my suspension. I have sports packaage and it still feels i'm driving a boat on rough waters. any suggestions    I'll take any advice or recommendations. YES I'M A NEWBIE!!!!!!

If all you want is looks and you don't care at all about performance, then just throw in some shorter Eibachs and call it a day.
That's all you really NEED if you just want to go lower...
Personally, I'd rather not half-ass it, but that's just me.

If you just want a street setup then Bilstein PSS9's (coilovers) are your best bet.

Thanks for the reply. I'm riding on 19's rigth now and even with these, i still want more grip on the road.  I want something that when i'm on the freeway i won't feel that i'm bouncing with my car. I want a setup that feels like i could corner without killing my brakes. However, i know i would loose some comfort, but i don't want to end up loosing all that comfort feeling that i'm driving a dropped Honda Civic.

If money is no issue and you want the best performance for the money, go with this kit, and get some swaybars (any set will do):
...p/II=693/CA=10

This HONESTLY is an option. Nice, thanks.

Like Bim said, if you want looks, just get some springs from Hamp;R or Eibach...
Coilovers are overkill if you're just looking for a nice drop. (Unless of course you like to throw money around like that.)
The only reason I invested in coilovers is because I'm a driver at heart. Also, with coilovers you want to get the height set to certain specs (via corner balancing). If you don't care about having neutral handling characteristics and being able to dial in rebound/dampening, etc., then coilovers are not for you. For example, if I'm going to be doing different types of driving one weekend, I'll probably switch around my settings at least 5-6 times.

HAHA BIM, GC finally answered one of the emails I sent them 50 days ago  .
One think I dont like is that they wont let you choose your own spring rates with the kit you linked...atleast thats what they told me but the online sales guy doesnt have a clue what hes talking about.  I asked him what are the spring rates and he was like ...whats that?
EDIT-I just called them and Jay said you can choose your own spring rates for the  street/track kit  .

Really? WOW! I would never expect this type of reaction or ineptitude from GC.
Unless something's changed, they DO allow you to choose your spring rates...

  I edited my above post.
I just called and talked to Jay and he said you can choose your own spring rates for the street/track kit.  He recommended 525/550 for me.
Im looking for that GIF of money flying out of a wallet....thats me.

  LOL@that GC rep.

Tell me about it, bro.
I went with 500/550 with my kit. It's very comfortable around town, but is straight pimpin' on the track!  You'll love the 525/550 kit, and the money will be the furthest thing from your mind when you're out on the track....

This is true but right now what I need most importantly is a new driver side view mirror which someone thought it wuld be cool to knock off.

Speaking of the track Bim, what might you suggest for the beginning tracker?  I live close to Willow Springs/Buttonwillow.  Should I attend one of these first?

I've got one that's an M3 style autofold mirror, painted steel blue. You can have it if it'll help your cause...

Thanks for the offer but I need either one original style mirror or 2 M3 ones...
Also, track season is over till spring  .

i've been reading other posts and the thing i'm getting is "How you're driving" and "Where you're driving" most of the post recommend pss9 for daily commute and tracking the car once in a while. for the shock and spring set, they're more concern about the how low the drop is to the car. How about ready kits like Dinan, UUC, ACS? would you recommend any of these or any feedback. Maybe i should describe the way i drive: I'm no professional driver, i commute to work with my car and it takes me about 45 minutes to go to work. I'm just about another speeding ticket before they suspend my license. i'm one of those drivers that think they're still in front of a playstation playing grand turismo when driving on the road.

  No love for Hamp;R?

No offense bro, just giving an example. But just want to hear from people, like you, who has done some work on their suspension.  There's so many products out there that at times they all say the same thing but their products shows different. I could research all i can, but nothing can compare to first hand driving experience.
