Alright i have a 88 mustang GT with quite a bit of work done to it. But now i am looking for the real power and was wondering to go turbo or supercharger. I was looking around and the Kenne Bell seems to be the best supercharger so far especially with the Flowzilla, but I have always had an attachment with Turbos. I wanna run about a mid 9 with somewhere in the area of 700hp. I want alot of torque to lauch hard though. Any help appreciated.
Better go buy an R block first.
For that kinda HP figures I'd say turbo and BOOOOOST . Plenty of it.
first- is your block/crank/rods/pistons stock?
second- i say go with a *drum roll* BLOWER! YAY!..
and 700hp doin mid 9s is hard to hard to do on a street car.. if its a race car, i can see it.. but without slicks/suspension/weight loss i doubt its gonna happen
Turbos annihilate blowers, pound for pound. It's proven, look at NMRA SSO, blower cars can be 410 cubes, turbo cars are limited to 360 inches and turbo cars are still dominating.
Supercharged cars take a belt drive, which robs HP, turbo's are spun at high speeds by exhaust gasses, and only add boost. My SVO is only a 4 cylinder turboford that boosts 15 pounds. but a lot of guys have them boosting nearly twice that much to race.
Hey I'm a little new to the whole supercharger thing. What exactly is meant when they advertise 50% more power?
50% of what?
50% more power over stock. Lets say your pushing 250hp stock(just pulling a number out my ass) With a supercharger that gaurantees 50% over stock... you should be pushing round 375.
700 is a big # but it can be done with either S/C or Turbo probbly alot easier to do and cheaper with a turbo.
depends if u want a good street car or a straight up drag racer.
Does anybody know where to find an easy bolt on kit for 6-9 psi of either turbo or supercharger for less than 2,000
str8 up turbos suck, it depends on wut u want tho, if ur lookn for off the line power, or rollin start power, and ur street racin, go for the s/c. turbos on the other hand hav terrible lag, especially wit da mor boost ya got. superchargers r basically str8 up torque, but if ur on the highway, and its clean n open n u hav nuttin but miles n miles ahead of u, n u plan on racin zo6's like me , go for the turbo. but i favor the s/c. pz out
hoodrich3740,
Son, you do not know what you are talking about. You need to do some more research, mmmk
A power adder is a power adder.
Turbo or Supercharger are great. Each have there plus and minus. You just have to know what you are doing. It has been gone over time and time again.

1. turbochargers that are matched to the engine have virtually no lag.
2. Turbos do not LAG just because you run more boost.
3. Turbos are all about toque.
4. I race zo6's in the qtr mile and I have a turbo.
don't talk about what you have not been around. |
