How to replace headlight switch
Athough its been awhile since I've posted, I still have my 1990 NA. It also is still my love. I finally found a combo switch from a 95 with 42k miles with excellent stencils as mine were worn almost completely off when I purchased the car. This is a complete switch with clockspring. I havent found really any instructions on how to,but I have replaced the steering wheel. I'm ok with the air bag removal, but concerned about the clock spring. If you make sure the pointers are lined up at the 12:00 position, do you still have to go thru the 2 turn procedure explained on the clockspring face when installing the new switch?
Yes, you need to make sure the front wheels are pointed straight ahead before you remove the old part. Then follow the centering produre on the replacement clockspring before installing it. Unless you removed it from the other car, you really have no idea if it is centered or not without checking it. It could have also been turned some after it was removed from the other car. |
