Good gas mileage

Im about a month in to my 2007 miata and have to say they do get great mileage. Im putting about 10 gallons in and refilling at 325 miles.
Manual says 12+ gallons but getting 10 gallons in is pushing it.
Dave-

Best I have ever done is 27.5 mpg. Oh well.
The reason you have trouble getting 10 gallons in is because the empty light comes on and fuel gage reads zero when you get down to about 2 gallons. That's my theory anyway. YMMV (pun intended)

I only get about 30 mpg in my 08.  I think it's mainly the gearing.  3,000 rpms @ 60 mph is 1,000 rpms higher than a regular 4 cyl sedan.

I got 33-34 MPG on a 5000 mile trip last month.   07 touring AT ,top down, AC on.  Using 91 octane.  Had it 2 months now,  love it,  lots of fun.

After 5 months and 6000+ miles I am consistently getting 28-29 mpg in town driving (chicago burbs) and 31-32 on trips. All of the trips have been a combination of interstate, back roads and surface streets. Have not driven a full tank on the interstate, but guessing will be not too much better.

I've gotten 32 MPG even around town. But I drove it easy just to see what I could nurse out of it.  Most of the time I don't get that much - I'll take fun over MPG most any time...

My gas light comes on with about 2.5 gallons left and about 1/8 on the gauge.
The gauge read empty with about 1.5 gallon left.
For mixed driving I get ~ 30 mpg with regular or super, no difference.

I'm still getting 32-34 MPG around town, very little highway driving.

I'm averaging 32 mpg in town since new.  I have an 08 sport prht with 6700 miles on the odo.

I average about 27 MPG on my new 09 PRHT AT but I am still in my first 1000 miles and drive mostly around town.

I get between 30 and 32 - 6spd manual and almost all highway use.  I'm pretty happy with that.

i get 29-30 and my commute is all surface roads. if i go on the expressway it's better.

Man, I must be a lead foot.
I get 25 - 26 normally. Mix of city and highway. Of course, part of that could be my car is still quot;breaking inquot; at 3900 miles.

i drive most time city. i get 23 to 24 mile/g
but list week end i drive highway it 32 mile/g

Here's my mpg chart for the last two years for my '08. My '06 had about the same. Mostly 93 Octane, some 87 (have never seen 91) 10% ethanol:
everything above 30 mpg is interstate
everything below 24 is local surface streets
everything between 24 and 30 is a mix of local highway and surface streets.
Local Avg is about about 22; highway avg is about 34

Just did a Colorado to Virginia trip to visit family.  Averaged 32.5 mpg over the trip.

My experiments with the ScanGauge indicate that a major source of inaccuracy of fuel consumption numbers for individual fills is that it is difficult to fill the tank to the same level every time.
I estimate this error to be at least 1 to 2 mpg.
Of course if you average over several fillups, or better aggregate miles and gallons to calculate mpg, this error is reduced.
If so inclined you could experiment with moving averages of your base data.

Yeah, Woo, I know, but I'm not trying to get Neil Armstrong to the moon and back. I just like to have a general idea of how I'm doing.

man i wish i was getting 30 mpg...i'm averaging 25-27 mixed driving. i noticed it dropped a little after i change the oil to royal purple...=/... before i change the oil i was getting close to 29 mixed driving..

I get 34MPG on my 45miles work commute one way - mostly highway - at 70MPG @3000rpm

I'm between 29-32 mpg mixed driving. will be curious to see if any change due to the new tires and the larger size 225/45/17

do you mean 70MPH @3000rpm?
how did you get that?
when i'm 70MPH im @3500rpm

either my car is running pig rich or you guys all have feather feet. I'm getting 23 in town and 26 on the highway, that's with the top up, AC off, cruise control set to 50mph!

I just got to NY and averaged 32.5 mpg top down 80% of the time.  420 mile trip

That's about what I get for all city driving but I've gotten as high as 32 on a long highway trip.
It makes me wonder if I need a ECU reflash or something seeing all these posts of people getting 26+ for all city driving, it is a early build 06.
