Perhaps the WORST ad ever!

Check this crap out! Really!? What kind of ad is that? Are you SO pretentious you think just the price will sell it for 12 GRAND! This car may go for $8000+ but not with this kind of sorry advertising. Sheesh.

It may be one of those half-a#$ attempts to quot;sellquot; a car.
For example:
Wife wants husband to sell car.
Husband says quot;Hunny its on craigslist. No one wants to buy itquot;
Husband posts the ad that you saw.
Wife never sees it.
Husband gets to keep car.

This looks like the same MG recently seen at a church fair's car show. Not a bad car, but only worth maybe half what he's asking. Had it parked between a Ferrari 350 and a bright yellow Lambo. The Ferrari owner's a really nice guy, glad to lemme quot;Try It On for Sizequot;. Lambo owner was snooty as only supercar owners can be. quot;Don't stand too close!quot; (At a car show...)
The MG owner claimed (insistently) that $12K is quot;the going pricequot; for low-ish  mileage MGs in ordinary condition.
Comical! Major-ly, pathetically comical.

Today must be the day for REALLY stupid people in South Bend to advertise their car:
1960 car - $200 (south bend)
Date: 2009-07-20, 11:51AM EDT
Reply to: sale-xxxxxxxxx@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Just my opinion, but $8K would be WAY more than it's worth.  '78 MGB, smog choked down to about 7 horsepower, with those delectable rubber bumpers?  I'll give you $4500 if it's the nicest one on the planet...wait, no I won't.  I already have a Miata that is faster, handles better, and (wait for it) STARTS every morning.

it seems to work very well haha
Many people fall victim to it.... I do it to my dad all the time when I hav stuff that I dont want to sell

You fellows seem to be pretty harsh on this one.  I agree it is quite probably overprice.  HOWEVER, if it has been fully restored and the smog equipment has been removed, and if it is rust-free and most everything if not everything works, you would all be surprised what a like-new MGB will go for.
I recently had a 1974 MGB that was like this, and was almost in showroom condition.  I bought it for $12K, and did a few little things to it, added just a few miles, and sold it over a year later for $14K.
There is a strong following of rubber bumper B's out there.
Of course, if the car is in average condition, then yes - it is considerably overpriced.

Doug,
I thought the wording on the advertising was bad. If it is a $12K car then advertise it like it is. Great pictures, excellent description etc. Not some lame quot;serious inquires onlyquot;. How long did it take you to move your MG at $14K? I have great respect for MGs. Without MGs there would be no Miata.
