Improve power?

Does anyone know what , if any, power improvement will be realized if you change out a muffler with bits of catalytic converter rattlling around at the inlet of the muffler? No CEL lites but power seems kind of anemic under 3500 rpm even after plugs, wires, air filter amp; timing. Should I expect to feel a noticible difference coming up thru 1st amp; 2nd gear?

thats normal, atleast for my car
mine also has all new all that (some what new)
most noticeable upgrade for me so far is when we put a 13lbs flywheel in this morning

It might help to know what year car you have.......

#1 there will bower bump if the cat clogged the muffler. The power is always anemic under 3500. If you think about it @ 3500 you have  what maybe 50 or so HP.

A clogged cat hurts top end more than below 3500. Some junk in the muffler shouldn't have any effect. Busted up cat matrix may lower performance marginally, as the flow is more turbulent, and there is no mid-cat heating to restore flow velocity.
Miatas are built for power when turning up the revs, like any sporting twin cam, hemispherical head Small engine. Lucky they gave it a decently wide torque curve so the engine doesn't have to live up high, like heavily breathed on Hondas that have No lower end.
Frankly, I rarely get above 4k in daily driving except for passing or the few interesting curves when traffic is absent. The engine is fine down low, if mileage is more important than getting someplace half a minute earlier. I shift two gears down when I need acceleration. Otherwise I move with traffic. We've got a bunch now.

Well I hope I see some improvement as  I am always aware of cars stopped behind me at red lights. Light turns green amp; a lot of drivers will be looking to get around me as soon as we have left the light. Lately I have been easing the clutch in at 3500(with AC off) but feel like Iam about to break traction amp; abusing the clutch, I don't know , maybe its just small car complex.

Let the clutch out amp; rev to 5-6.5 k amp; enjoy the totally different feel of the engine.  It comes alive at high rpm amp; is built to do it (althought I don't do it as much anymore, I'm the one getting old, the car is only 20).
