1996 base ABS ?

Ok, I know how to determine if my car has ABS or not, unit on ps fire wall or ABS light on dash.  I will check when I get home.
That out of the way.  How likely am I to find it there when I get home?  How common was it on the obdII cars?  My car came with power steering and A/C, would ABS be a likely option too?  Or is it just, hit or miss with a base model?

take a look at my old thread and you will see the answer. It is also marked on a skicker on the passanger side door jam.

I wouldn't be surprised if base models did not have an ABS option.

ABS was not a stand alone option - it was included with certain packages.  A base model will not have ABS, period.  Aside from the thread linked above, the buyers guides and equipment guides listed in the FAQ and Garage specify which packages had which options.

The FAQ says it was a $900 option starting in '91.
Listed as optional on all but R-pack and STO.
Mandatory on 93LE, 94M auto, 95M, and 96M.

Quick and easy way to tell is where do you fill your washer fluid?
If you fill it up in front of the radiator you have an ABS car, if you fill it on the passenger side firewall you do not have an ABS car.

I figured mine would have it because it was the M edition.  I assumed they had every option.  It didn't have it.  I don't think it was standard in any NA model.  I think it was always an option.

Base = no options.
ABS = option.
Therefore, no base model has ABS.... if it does its not a base model.
However, this has no bearing on if your car has ABS or not, because the fact it has P/S and A/C means we already know its not a base model.Fletch.

Thanks all for the replies.  When I got home I checked, no abs.
Fletcher - It seems that the ONLY options that my car has is A/C and PS.

IIRC from the FAQs and Garage, and my experience, ABS was, for the most part, a stand alone option for 1996, at least in the US.
If I read the Features Table correctly, ABS was included as part of the 1996 M Edition, and otherwise as a stand alone option on 1996 Miatas ordered with PEP or Leather Package. Apparently ABS was not available on R's, Base Models or Miatas ordered with the Power Steering Package.
To complicate matters, Power Steering was part of the PEP, and you could order ABS if you also ordered PEP, so a 1996 could have both Power Streering and ABS.
For a data point, I have a '96 with PEP and Leather Package, but no ABS. Sounds like Herbert's car is a '96 with AC and Power Steering Package.
Nice car !
