Soft Top removal

I just bought a miata 2 weeks back. I wanted to get rid of the soft top and only use the hard top i have. I was wondering if i remove the soft top and the rain rails will this cause any leakage when just the hard top is put on??

I believe you should be good..Welcome to the club and enjoy the insanity!!

Hardtop mounts outside the rain rail area...water never gets down there...

I've been running without a soft top under my hard top for over a year.  No leaks.
BB.

You will save weight and open up the area behind the seats with the soft top removal, but hurt resale value.  We all plan to keep our cars forever, but ....

I finally removed it yesterday... I have a lot of space now..
I just followed this sites instructions..

Thank you all for replying...

Removing and throwing away the soft top will lower the resale value.
Save all those stock parts you replace/upgrade, you never know when you might need them and as soon as you trash them, you will.

I love the extra space it opens up.  Granted.. The rollbar does get in the way a little.  But no leaks cause of it.

U r right.... i did not throw away this softtop..... one day for some crazy reason if i want to sell my miata.... i will put it back on... it is not that hard to put it back on...as some people make it seem to make it. until then.....that extra space is heaven...
